Papers from the September 2000 meeting in Guanajuato, Mexico focus on integrated management of sorghum and pearl millet diseases and the importance of these crops in agro-ecosystems. Whereas in the last decennial the focus was on specific disease organisms in isolation, this one emphasized a more interrelated approach, for example, disease triangles of host, pathogen, and environment. Other foci were proper pathogen identification, use of population biology, panicle diseases such as ergot and grain mold, and the plant parasite Striga . Papers on topics not addressed at the meeting have been added to round out the volume. The 150 contributors are a truly international grouping.
