商品簡介
In her discussion of the steps that led to postmodern forms of Installation art, Ran, a multifaceted artist herself, provides definitions for some of the most fluid of art forms. She begins with the early twentieth century and some of the "out of the frame" work of Duchamps. The goals of the Modernist movement are delineated with examples before moving to the extremely diverse world of Installation. These range from the islands surround in pink gauze to multi-media presentations to street corner interactive performance. For Ran, the media are important in Installation art. It is in the use of disparate objects, new technology and even the body of the artist that the message is communicated. One might argue with her conclusion that this form must be approached through an understanding of the dialectic, rather than as a wanderer in the art; however this is a valuable contribution to the field.
