Contemporary Feminist Theory and Activism: Six Global Issues

Lee (philosophy, Bloomsburg U.) presents six essays on seemingly disparate topics with the intent to illustrate the relevance of these subjects within a feminist context, as well as the potential for a feminist perspective to effect change across a broad range of topics. To this end her essays explore sexual identity, reproductive technology, global economic inequality, the culture industry, religious fundamentalism, and ecological feminism. Lee plumbs a variety of feminist traditions to support her aim, but emphasizes throughout the theme of the personal experience as political action, and recommends a feminist philosophy as a practical means to integrate the two.
