商品簡介
According to recent statistics over 40 percent of faculty on US campuses is adjunct, part-time, or contingent. This is a fact of life as universities and colleges struggle to provide quality education at the lowest possible cost. However, one of the unseen costs is the lack of involvement of said faculty in scholarly communities and other significant aspects of higher education. Baron-Nixon (university teaching and learning, U. of Nevada, Las Vegas) takes a practical approach to attracting and holding the attention of faculty not on the tenure track and working toward an inclusive teaching community. She describes steps to take at the department level, ways to develop a culture of quality teaching, methods of fostering and sustaining a supportive learning environment, and techniques to develop adjunct, part-time, or contingent faculty as scholars.
