商品簡介
The editors of this anthology of (mostly) fiction, Davis (mathematics, University of Toronto), Senechal (mathematics and history of science and technology, Smith College, emerita) and Zwicky (philosophy, University of Victoria, B.C.) selected these short stories, poems and plays from those that were written as a result of a workshop held at a Banff scientific institute on creative writing for scientists. All of the works are either based in a scientific theory or have scientists or mathematicians as protagonists. The works are interesting and some have been published elsewhere. However the rationale behind the collection, that fiction based in science is rare, is not borne out by the facts. A number of scientists write excellent fiction and also nonfiction that communicates their lives and work. Nevertheless, this collection is a nice addition to the field.
