商品簡介

Cane Toads: The Conquest by director Mark Lewis is one of the most remarkable documentaries ever filmed---an engrossing, hilarious, hair-raising, 3-D glimpse into one of today's weirdest natural phenomenon: the relentless march of millions of toxic, yet oddly lovable, amphibians across the vast expanse of Australia's northern territories.

Now here is the companion book to the film, a guide to the important, intriguing, and disturbing issue it raises---that of rogue species and the environmental havoc they cause---with contributions from many of the world's leading experts on invasive species. You'll discover the stories of many of the world's most amazing creatures, from the Burmese pythons ravaging the Florida Everglades to the zebra mussel that is wiping out native creatures of the Great Lakes. You'll also learn some of the specific steps'we can take, both as individuals and as the collective stewards of planet Earth, to help protect the global diversity and beauty of nature that we all cherish.
