Television Production: A Classroom Approach

This best-selling set of books on television production is widely used in secondary school courses. Completely revised to reflect the advances in television production in the last ten years, this new edition incorporates the advent of digital imaging and equipment. Each chapter in the student text features: learning objectives, vocabulary, topic discussion, review questions, student project plans, evaluation sheets, and extension activities. The text also covers equipment use, project planning instruction, newsgathering methodology, studio production, and movie production. The teacher's guide additionally contains instructional notes to the teacher, answer sheets, instructional ideas, and evaluation notes. Approximately 60% of the material is new to this edition, and over 95% of the material has been revised and updated. In this revision, two books replace the previous three-book edition. The two earlier student books (for beginning and advanced students) have been combined into one student text. The teacher's guide remains as one volume.

KEITH KYKER (M.Ed.) has 23 years teaching experience, and has been working with school television production for 18 of those years. He has earned degrees in educational media/instructional technology and speech education from the University of Central Florida. Keith currently serves as the educational media specialist at Northwood Elementary School in Crestview, Florida. Keith was previously the media specialist at Lewis Middle School in Valparaiso, Florida where he earned District Teacher of the Year honors in 1999. Before becoming a media specialist, Keith taught television production, media production, public speaking, and English at the high school and college levels. Keith recently served on the committee that developed the assessment for National Board Certification for library media, and was instrumental in providing benchmarks for accomplished media practices.

CHRISTOPHER CURCHY is Educational Media Specialist, at Jensen Beach High School, Jensen Beach, Florida. Christopher has 29 years experience teaching in Florida grades K-12. With Keith Kyker, Christopher is the co-author of 9 educational technology books for Libraries Unlimited.
