Cases on Online and Blended Learning Technologies in Higher Education: Concepts and Practices

This work presents international examples of online learning and blended learning, a mixture of traditional face-to-face instruction and online learning experiences. The cases focus on the challenges related to course design, methodologies, and assessment of learning outcomes. The cases are grouped in sections on programs, environments, and courses in blended and online learning technologies. Some specific cases described include a two-year pilot study of blended learning in a creative writing program, blended learning in a Master's level research methodology class, using wikis to foster collaborative learning, building community in an honors seminar, and integrating classroom and online instruction in an introductory American government course. The book will be helpful to educational professionals including professors, researchers, trainers, library media specialists, administrators, and educational technologists.
