This authoritative entry in the acclaimed Great Expectations series makes it easy for parents to give their babies and toddlers the best, most wholesome and natural food possible.
The way a baby is nursed and the types of foods provided in the critical first years can affect a child's eating preferences and habits for a lifetime. More than a child's main fuel, food can help newborns double in size, energize developing limbs, and have more protective power than medicines to strengthen a young immune system.
Whether it's the benefits of breastfeeding, first food preparation, or how to prevent childhood obesity, this comprehensive guide covers all aspects of feeding your little one from birth to three years. It describes everything you need to prepare simple, nourishing food at home; explores today's most significant nutrition issues for young children; and includes more than 150 kid-friendly recipes.

"This is an extraordinary collection of the voices of American dissidents. Even to browse through it is to be delighted and inspired."---Howard Zinn, author of A People's History of the United States
Protest Nation is a dazzling collection of the speeches, letters, broadsides, essays, and manifestos that form the modern-day backbone of the powerful American tradition of activism and struggle. Here are the words---from socialists, feminists, union organizers, civil-rights workers, gay and lesbian activists, and environmentalists---that have been beacons for millions, reaching from the present and going back through decades of radical thinking and movement-building. Brief introductory essays by the editors provide a rich biographical and historical context for the selections, which include a fiery speech by the great socialist orator Eugene Debs, the original Black Panther Party Platform, Harvey Milk's "The Hope Speech," and Peter Singer's astonishing treatise on animal liberation. Protest Nation captures twentieth-century American radical thought and action and will both thrill and inspire twenty-first-century readers.
