The uniforms, equipment, history and organization of the world's military forces, past and present.
Written by a combat veteran of US Army Special Forces in Vietnam, this is a guide to the army of the war's least-studied major participant -South Vietnam. The ARVN's character and fighting ability was a central factor at every stage of the conflict, and though the army was hampered by many weaknesses of political leadership, command and motivation, some South Vietnamese units earned a genuinely good reputation in battle. This account of the ARVN's background, evolution, organization, units, uniforms, insignia and equipment is illustrated with photographs from private collections and detailed color artwork.
