商品簡介
Creeping specialization has infected Achaemenid studies, as it does nearly every discipline and profession, but this anthology of 14 essays is meant to appeal to the general classicist with an interest in the Persian dynasty that ruled a good part of western Asia during the sixth to fourth centuries BC. The topics include Xenophon's wicked Persian Tissaphernes, Darius I in Egypt, the philosopher's Zarathushtra, and early European visitors to the ruins of Persepolis. Some of the papers are from a September 2004 conference in Rennes, France. Annotation c2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
