Pollution Prevention For Chemical Processes

As industrial waste becomes an increasingly important--and expensive--issue, manufacturers are looking for ways to decrease the generation of waste instead of disposing of it once it is formed. This reference articulates the emerging engineering design tools for pollution prevention and waste management. It is divided into three major sections on pollution prevention at the macroscale, mesoscale, and microscale. It defines waste management terms and covers waste flows and emission rates, life cycle assessments, emission inventories, raw material selection and more.

DAVID T. ALLEN, PhD, is the Beckman Professor in Chemical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He is the recipient of numerous awards and is the author of several books. The authors' previous collaborations have resulted in numerous publications, including a widely used collection of course modules entitled Pollution Prevention: Homework and Design Problems for Engineering Curricula.
