商品簡介
In this memoir, Valente (early childhood education, Pennsylvania State U.) recounts his experiences as a deaf person, with deaf culture, and becoming a deaf studies scholar. Using techniques of autobiography, autoethnography, and autobiographical novels, he traces his childhood to his development as a scholar studying contemporary issues in the early education of deaf children and explores his view of preschools as sites that socialize children into cultural worlds. He uses the ideas of superheros, mentors, and villains to illustrate the emergence of his identity as a writer and how he lived a life between the deaf and hearing worlds.
