商品簡介
This volume is the result of a conference, held at the Research School Safety and Justice (OMV) in the Netherlands, bringing together scholars of criminal law, criminology, public administration, and legal philosophy in order to explore the role of criminal law in securing safety and justice. The 14 resulting papers are structured around three core text that delineate the theoretical and topical contours of the proceedings: a critical assessment of Beccaria's On Crimes and Punishments (1764) and its model of constraining the state's ability to punish, a consideration of restorative justice as an alternative procedure for dealing with criminal justice, and consideration of the ways that the governance of security risk sometimes works at odds with core principles of criminal law.
