商品簡介
Examining the nexus of policy and practical reality, this volume on educational failure and redemption examines the circumstances of a group of youth from lower socio-economic backgrounds who have dropped out of school and have later returned to continue their education. The study explores the ways in which educators and policy makers fail to listen to the needs of students and examines facets of education policy that ignore the desires and motivations of teens in sticking with education in adverse circumstances. The work includes numerous personal stories as well as discussions of policy and procedures. Smyth and McInerney are academics associated with the school of education at the University of Ballarat, Australia. Annotation c2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
