商品簡介
This compact (5x8") study is part of a series of short, accessible books on specific aspects of the 1916 Rising. It offers a day-by-day account, from April 24 to April 30, of the occupation of the Four Courts area in Dublin during the Easter Rising of 1916. There is special focus on Edward Daly and the 1st Battalion of Irish Volunteers, who were the last to surrender, but other major figures are also covered. The book also provides information on the executions of Irish rebels in May 1916 and the aftermath of the battle for the city of Dublin. A final chapter briefly analyzes the Rising as both a military success and a military failure. The book is illustrated with b&w historical photos. Author O'Brien has written two other books on Irish history. Distributed in the US by ISBS. Annotation c2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
