Managing Natural Resources for Development in Africa

This work is written by a multidisciplinary team from universities in Africa, plus experts in natural resources management (NRM) from research organizations operating on regional and international scales. The book offers a detailed review and analysis of scientific, economic, social, and political aspects of NRM issues related to development in Africa, especially in Eastern and Southern Africa. Case studies demonstrate various tools and processes used in NRM research and activity. The book begins with an overview of principles of sustainable development and NRM and theories for understanding social-ecological systems as they relate to NRM. The authors then provide an operational framework for integrated NRM, which takes into account multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
