商品簡介
Markus (emeritus, philosophy, U. of Sydney, Australia) emigrated from his native Hungary to Australia in 1978, and is a central figure of the Budapest School. He presents an introduction to this collection of 21 essays, which were written over a period of almost 40 years--the earliest one published while the author was still in Hungary and the remainder while in Australia. Among the topics: the paradoxical unity of the arts and the sciences; changing images of science; communication, science, democracy; Hegel and the end of art; Marxism and theories of culture; and Adorno and mass culture--to name just a few.
