The Kedah Sultanate is the oldest unbroken independent kingship lines in the “Malay world” with 1,000 years of history, and arguably one of the oldest in the Islamic world. In this study, the author examines key geopolitical and spiritual attributes of Malay kingship that have traditionally cemented the ruler, the peoples, and the environment.
作者簡介
Dr Maziar M. Falarti teaches Asian history at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia. In December 2009 he was awarded a PhD in History at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He has taken field trips and lived at locations in Southeast Asia (Malaysia and Singapore), South Asia (Bangladesh) and the Middle East (Iran and Turkey), likewise consulted British colonial archives kept at Melbourne and Canberra. This has enabled him to further consult access and obtain an eclectic array of sources, including British archives, as well as Malay/Indonesian, Thai, Indian and Persian indigenous sources.
