商品簡介
Pastor-Gomez (English, Galician School of Higher Studies in Hotel Management) examines the status, evolution, and use of N+N structures or sequences, i.e., noun phrase structures such as "university library" in which a noun functions as a premodifier within the structure. In terms of status, she argues that N+N structures are syntactic constructs, rather than morphological compounds as other scholars might have it. Evolution she addresses in terms of the process of lexicalization and the acquisition of morphological, semantic, and orthographic properties. Finally, in terms of use, she aims to demonstrate that several different variables--text category, speech community, time period, and mode--are in operation.
