商品簡介
For music educators, this guide provides ideas by describing case studies of 12 programs throughout the US from a variety of socioeconomic areas and community sizes. They illustrate how to make a program in any setting a model for good teaching. Programs were chosen, and awarded monetary support, by the MENC, based on their quality and accordance with its mission. The project, "Music for All: Building a Training and Support System for Music Teachers to Better Serve American Youth," solicited bands, choirs, and general music classes, and those in elementary to secondary levels, or with various amounts of funding. Each program is described in terms of its technology, interdisciplinary and multicultural learning, how it uses music to enrich the lives of all students, and standards for learning, and chapters are organized by these categories. Also included are descriptions of the school districts, budget, scheduling, facilities, and philosophy. Ideas for practical applications, including resources, are discussed. There is no index. Blakeslee et al. are all associated with the MENC: The National Association for Music Education, a partner publisher of this volume. Annotation c2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
