Ladd (Community Health Education Center, Virginia Commonwealth U.) and Altshuler, a manager of library services, present a guide for librarians and library users seeking information on diabetes from print, audiovisual, and web resources. They describe basic resources about type 1 and 2 diabetes, prediabetes, prevention, gestational diabetes, and pediatric issues, then management resources relating to drug therapy, diet, physical activity, complementary and alternative medicine, and clinical trials; living with the disease, including collaborating with a health care team, support, life outside the home, travel concerns, and legal, insurance, and financial issues; and resources on health complications, such as diabetic retinopathy, mental health issues, cardiovascular complications, and sexual and urological problems. Each chapter begins with an overview and general background on the issue. Resources were chosen based on authorship, authority, reliability, currency, and reading level and were reviewed by a medical content advisory board.
