Revising a doctoral thesis written at Switzerland's Graduate Institute of International Studies, Bottigliero (international humanitarian law, U. of Hong Kong) explores the issue of victim compensation for war crimes, genocide, and other crimes against humanity. She first examines the historical development of legal forms of redress and its current application in frameworks of domestic law. Ilaria Bottigliero, Laurea (La Sapienza, Rome), DES and Ph.D. (Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva) is the author of 120 Million Landmines Deployed Worldwide: Fact or Fiction? and she currently teaches ‘Public International Law’, ‘Gender Theory’ and ‘Gender, Law and Politics’ at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and ‘International Humanitarian Law’ at the University of Hong Kong. Dr. Bottigliero has been actively lobbying Governments in Asia as part of the international campaign urging ratification of the ICC Statute and she lectures widely on victims’ compensation and gender justice.
