商品簡介
The author seeks to reconstruct the political-economy and society of the Dunhuang region of the Tibetan Empire (now in the Chinese province of Gansu) during the 8th and 9th centuries through an analysis of the secular writings that accompanied the Buddhist scriptures discovered in the Mogao Caves near Dunhuang. The volume contains a brief survey of the administrative system of central Tibet, a list of names of Chinese families resident in the Dunhuang area before and during Tibetan rule, a list of families of the Tibetan confederation, a synopsis of the history of the `A-zha (the people most dominant in the region beside the Chinese, who were also known as the Tuyuhun), a list of `A-zha names and toponyms, discussion of contracts and taxes, a list of the measures used at the time, and a conclusion that explores the findings of all of the proceeding together.
