International Experiences in Language Testing and Assessment ― Selected Papers in Memory of Pavlos Pavlou

The 16 papers are from a June 2011 international language testing and assessment conference held at the University of Cyprus in memory of stalwart Pavlou, who had died of cancer the year before. They cover problematizing language testing and assessment, language testing and assessment in schools and in higher education, high-stakes examinations, and language testing practices. Among specific topics are social meanings in global-local language proficiency exams, assessing the quality of translations, high-stakes testing in the Republic of Cyprus, and using assessment rubrics and feedback forms in learning. Sophie Ioannou-Georgiou is an inspector and teacher trainer for the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture and adjunct lecturer at the European University Cyprus.
The editors have taught, researched and published extensively in the field of Language Testing and Assessment, CALL and Applied Linguistics.
