Harmsen (political science, U. of Luxemburg) and Schild (political science, U. of Trier, Germany) present the results of a research project examining the 2009 European Parliament elections. Contributors of the 13 included papers were asked to summarize the results in their country; to analyze the European discourses deployed by parties during the election, with reference to both formal party manifestos and wider public/media discussions; and to address the more general recent development of national discourses on European integration. The countries discussed are Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, the UK, Spain, Finland, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Slovakia, and Romania.
