Britain in the Twentieth Century

More (modern British and European history, U. of Gloucestershire, UK) presents an introductory political history of Britain over the course of the 20th century, which covers both domestic politics and international relations, as well as those social developments that significantly impinged on politics. His approach is primarily chronological, but some thematic divisions are included, as between military strategy and politics during the Second World War or between or domestic politics and foreign relations in the post-war era. Charles More has taught modern British and European history at the University of Gloucestershire since 1980. He has published a widely read textbook on modern British economic and social history, The Industrial Age: Economy and Society in Britain 1750-1995 (Longman, 1997) and numerous other books and articles, particularly on the history of education and of work.
