The South Downs National Park extends from the outskirts of Eastbourne in East Sussex, to the edge of Winchester in Hampshire. It consists of a considerable chunk of southern England and it contains an extraordinary variety of archaeological and historic monuments. John Manley has spent a career in archaeology, including the last 17 years as CEO of the Sussex Archaeological Society. Now Honorary Research Officer of the Sussex Archaeological Society. he has extensive knowledge of all periods of history of the South Downs National Park and is familiar with its landscapes and sites. A proven writer with several popular books to his name, John has previously written AD43: The Roman Invasion of Britain.
