商品簡介
Simmons (history of medicine, York U., Toronto) describes how Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, sought to improve living conditions of the Yishuv, the Jewish community in pre-1948 Palestine, through hands-on social services to the local population. She says it was very successful, and was the largest Zionist organization in the US from the 1920s through the end of World War II. The study is revised from her Ph.D. dissertation for the University of Toronto (no date noted). Annotation c2006 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
