商品簡介
This study explores the experiences of Latino immigrant students in one classroom at a high school in the upper Midwest through their stories, within the historical and contemporary context of immigrant students and education and the ways that race, culture, and legal status impact student identity and success. The author, who spent two years observing the class, considers how Latino students experience school and the factors necessary for them to be successful as students, as well as how issues of cultural, racial, and linguistic identity play out in their daily lives, what causes them to identify with the school, how the existing power dynamics affect them, the role of gatekeeping in the school, and how the border continues to define their lives.
