The available transportation method and capacity is the only aspect that can restrict the components dimensions and forms.
The prefabricated elements are called cast stones, and their visible surface is stone cut or designed by stabbing, granulating, sandblasting,etching, water blasting, or sanding. Concrete components are popularly used as monolithic elements or as essential components for architectural designs when high precision or a specific surface structure is required, or when large quantities have to be produced or manufactured on site, away from the construction area. This method is comparable to natural stone, but is generally more economical.
Shotcrete is a specific form of concrete engineering. Special concrete in thick fluid form is delivered to the construction site in a closed line and sprayed with a pneumatic gun onto a prepared surface consisting of cast forms, soil, or other components. The impact pressure of this seals the ground soil. Reinforcements might be required, depending on how the water installation will be used and the quality of the foundation ground.
This method is recommended for installations planned for a changing topography, for installations with several links to architectural structures,or for installations that will need to withstand heavy use. It is similar to the mastic asphalt method, and can be transported by pipeline if the construction site is difficult to access.
