This volume provides a pan-European perspective of hip-hop (sub)cultures across Europe, from West to East. Hip-hop is analyzed in case studies of Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany (and the former East Germany), Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom in order to highlight issues of transnational cultural flows (i.e. from the US and back, across Cold War boundaries of Europe, across national borders, etc.) and what their specifics reveal about issues of politics, space/place, race, class, gender, authenticity, language, and genre.
