This book provides an overview of superconducting materials focusing on cuprate high-temperature superconductors. Other new interesting superconducting materials (e.g. fullerenes, MgB2, pnictides) are also described. The book addresses some aspects of new physics in complex materials (e.g. d-wave superconductivity, pseudo-gap, irreversibility line) and includes the preparation of superconducting films for electronics. The unique feature of the book is the combination of introductory aspects, description of new physics in complex superconductors, material aspects (e.g. synthesis of cuprate superconductors, thin film deposition, diffusion), and a description of the material properties (e.g. crystal structure, superconducting properties, effects of strain on the superconducting properties, normal state properties).
