Mieszkowski (German, Reed College, Oregon) analyzes the relationship between aesthetics and classical political economy, and the significance of that relationship for contemporary cultural theory. Less concerned with Romanticism than other travelers along this road, he focuses on how the considerations of literary language by particular authors are motivated by their reading of Kant's Critique of Judgment and by their subsequent efforts to understand the precarious standing of discursive media within aesthetic models.
