Edmondo De Amicis (1846-1908) was a poet, a novelist, and a short-story and travel writer. He is best remembered for his children's story collection Cuore. Louis Laurent Simonin (1830-1886) was an engineer, traveler, and travel writer. Stephen Parkin has translated De Amicis's Constantinople.
