商品簡介
New Hampshire school librarian Keane presents a resource guide to children's fiction that can be used to support middle school curricula. She begins with chapters covering alphabet, picture, poetry, multi-genre, and "based-on-a-true-story" books. She then moves to social studies, providing 15 chapters covering such topics as the Civil War, Greek mythology, alternative history, women's rights/suffrage, and modern day refugees. The science curricula is considered in lists of books dealing with topics of ecology, medical ethics, food and nutrition, and natural disasters. Dealing with coming of age in the middle school years is the focus of the final chapter. Each of these chapters opens with a sample "booktalk" designed to engage students with a work (or other activities) and contains brief descriptions of related fictional works, along with basic publishing information and age guides.
