商品簡介
Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) comprises numerous healing practices, which are not considered part of conventional medicine. About one-third of U.S. adults use CAM, often without the knowledge of their usual western practitioners. The authors would have psychologists be able to integrate these therapies into their treatment. The first three chapters of the book are devoted to the basics of CAM and its uses. These go over ethical issues, review research, and discuss how research might be interpreted. The remainder of the book gives each therapy a chapter. Each chapter has an overview, definitions, a brief history, common uses, technique, mechanisms of action, relevant research, contraindications, and risks, tips, and discussion of how to integrate the modality into clinical practice. The authors selected 14 practices for chapters in this guide: biofeedback, meditation, hypnosis, yoga, music therapy, spirituality and prayer, acupuncture, herbals, and biologically-based practices, aromatherapy, chiropractic, massage therapy, dance movement therapy, Reiki, and Ayurveda.
