美國哈佛大學圖書館藏未刊：中國舊海關史料(1860-1949‧21冊-40冊)（簡體書）

本書所收資料為從未重印過的中國舊海關史料。
中國的海關制度是在被侵略的背景下建立起來的，且長期由外籍人士擔任總稅務司，成為殖民者干預中國經濟乃至政治的工具。但是從客觀方面來說，在外籍總稅務司的領導下，當時的中國政府建立起了與世界同步的海關。總稅務司署設立造冊處（後期改稱統計科），編印海關貿易報告、統計、文件、書籍等出版物，逐漸形成了一套規範、完整、有序的編印、發行、保管制度，所編印的出版物分類系統，記錄科學，內容豐富，反映了舊海關各類事務的真實狀況。本書便是對藏于美國哈佛大學圖書館的舊海關出版物進行了分類影印出版。
哈佛大學圖書館所藏中國舊海關出版物數量豐富，約占舊海關出版物總量的三分之二，其內容涵蓋舊海關出版物的各個門類。目前學界對統計類的內容利用率較高，哈佛所藏比國內已出版的相關書籍所錄更加齊全；此外還藏有特種、雜項、關務、官署、總署、郵政等類別，這些材料翔實鮮活，約占舊海關全部出版物的一半左右，但是以往未見出版，學界使用不便，利用率較低，不失為學術研究的一大缺憾。本書對哈佛所藏舊海關資料，擷取其未刊者，進行窮盡性系統性影印出版，彌補已出版的舊海關資料的缺失，基本將舊海關資料的全貌展現出來，以饗學界。
本書所收舊海關資料在時間跨度上覆蓋了近代中國80%的年度，總數達到1000餘卷，內容龐雜豐富，而且在分析方法和統計方法上嚴格按照西方的科學制度，在論述上力求詳細且常用數據作為支撐，這在中國近代史料中是極為少見的，是研究近代中國極大、極系統、極科學、內容極為廣泛的資料寶庫。它不僅是研究中國近代海關史、對外貿易史的基本資料，也是研究交通史、產業史、政治史、醫學史、生態變遷史和地區歷史等多方面的珍貴文獻資料。
本項目為“十二五”國家重點圖書出版規劃項目。
