商品簡介
Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions have all been enriched by the book of Jonah, and the results include interpretations ranging from the allegory to the historical to the psychoanalytical. Kamp (theology, U. of Tilberg) examines the interplay among texts, authors, and readers of the book of Jonah, and how that interplay becomes a conceptual structure quite apart from theological interpretation. He works through his own and other scholars' analysis of the text's syntax and semantics and explores its themes of conceptual space, the world inside-out and spewed away, renewal, reversal and change as related to Noah, and the prophet incognito, as related to Joel. He includes a direct Hebrew-to- English translation of chapters one through four. Annotation c2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
