Carnivale was a dramatic series on HBO. This period narrative took place in Depression era America and received critical acclaim. Some claim that it was the beginning of the current interest in cinematic storytelling on television. Despite the critical acclaim, it was cancelled after two seasons. However, the high level of production design and unusual storyline has lead to an almost cult-like following of the show in recent years. In this book, a variety of different writers contribute essays that address a diverse selection of topics relating to the show, including sexual expression and character, female truth-tellers in the Occult, and Tarot as a character catalyst.
