The treatise Miftah al-Tibb wa-Minhaj al-Tullab was written by Abu al-Faraj 'Ali Ibn al-Husayn Ibn Hindu, who died in 423/1032 and was translated into English by Aida Tibi and Emilie Savage-Smith. The proceedings of the celebrative conference contains five papers in English and six in Arabic. Among the English topics are a 21st-century physician's view of Ibn Hindu's book, medicinal plants and herbal medications, the relevance of Ibn Hindu for teaching medicine today, and a comparative study of the lives and contributions of Ibn Hindu and Abu Zayd al-Balkhi.
