Although Belmont was not incorporated until 1859, the town enjoys a unique and rich history that dates back to the 1600s, with its original farms, early businesses, and prominent citizens. The town prospered, developing a reputation for the finest fruits and vegetables carried into the farmers market at Faneuil Hall in Boston.
