South African writer Nkosi died in 2010 before even beginning the memoir he had long promised, so email correspondence during his final years provides valuable clues to his life and thinking. One of the sets assembled here was with Steibel as she prepared a 2006 critical book on his work, and the other was with Litzi Lombardozzi as part of her doctoral dissertation on his work. Five of his essays are appended.
