商品簡介
Student motivation, obviously, is one of the key factors determining success in learning a second language. This work, by Dornyei (U. of Nottingham, UK), Csizer (Eotvos U., Hungary), and Nemeth (Eotvos U.), concerns one of largest second language learner motivation surveys ever conducted: a survey of some 13,000 Hungarian teenagers in 1993, 1999, and 2004. While various aspects of the surveys findings from 1993 and 1999 have been discussed in previous publications, this is the first book to attempt to summarize the full range of findings for all three years. Following explanations of theory and method, chapters discuss gender, geographical location, and school instruction as modifying factors in language attitudes and motivation, the internal structure of language learning motivation, language learners' motivational profiles, and the effects of intercultural contact on language attitudes and language learning motivation.
