Each volume contains a lengthy introduction by its editor discussing the novel and its historic and literary context. In addition, v.1 contains an introduction by Daniel R. Schwarz (his affiliation is not noted) to Disraeli's novels in general. Volume one contains Vivian Grey, written in 1826-7, and edited by Michael Sanders (English and creative writing, Lancaster U., UK). The Young Duke is contained in v.2, edited by Miles A. Kimball (affiliation not noted). Contarini Fleming, written in 1821, is edited by Charles Richmond in v.3. Volume four contains The Wonderous Tale of Alroy, of 1833, edited by Geoffrey Harvey, (English and American literature, U. of Reading, UK). Henrietta Temple and Venetia of 1836 and 1837 are contained in the final volumes; both are edited by Ann R. Hawkins (Texas Tech. U.) and Jeraldine R. Kraver (no affiliation stated).
