This is a paperbound edition of a 2000 book about which Book News wrote: Usable for self-study, but primarily intended as a text for one of several undergraduate or graduate control courses that begin where a typical undergraduate control course ends. Readers are assumed to be familiar with the continuous time, single-input-single-output systems; frequency functions; and elementary state space theory. One goal of Glad and Ljung (both electrical engineering, Link÷ping U., Sweden) is to provide background for using the many new control design packages that implement advanced control synthesis techniques. Another is to describe and discuss basic aspects of control design, the approaches, the key quantities to consider, and the fundamental limitations inherent in the designs.
