A life-long resident of New York's Niagara Frontier, Neil spent years developing short stories based around his life and homeland. In time, every geographical feature of the Western New York landscape morphed into the scenery of his conjured realm, which readers know as Tropal. While a student at Buffalo State College, O'Donnell started incorporating his studies in Anthropology into his writing, delving deeply into the discord and compromise that arises when societies interact. Ultimately, O'Donnell's personal and educational experiences merged to form tales where individuals and communities overcome scarcity, injustice, and war to find prosperity, equality, and peace. O'Donnell currently resides in Lancaster, New York, balancing his time between his family, writing, and working as a college instructor and academic advisor. O'Donnell also is striving to raise awareness of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), a disorder he's personally battled since childhood.
