商品簡介
In his history of 20th-century musical modernism, Golab chooses musical structure as its object seen in a cultural context. The work itself is not the focus, therefore, but the cultural values that the work was able to generate in terms of radical novelty or mere change. He draws on his own fields of music theory and music aesthetics to develop the foundations of a general theory of modern music, believing that music historians need to stop slavishly imitating their colleagues in mainstream cultural history, develop a historiography suitable to music, and begin to speak with their own voice.
