Between Jerusalem and Europe: Essays in Honour of Bianca Kuhnel analyses how Jerusalem is translated into the visual and material culture of Europe, and in what ways European encounters with the city have shaped its holy sites.

Renana Bartal is a Research Fellow at the European Forum at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She has published articles on medieval illuminated manuscripts and devotional practice. Her forthcoming book is entitledGender, Diversity and Devotion in Three Fourteenth Century English Apocalypse Manuscripts.Hanna Vorholt is an Anniversary Research Lecturer in the Department of History of Art and a member of the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of York. She has published on illuminated manuscripts and political iconography and has co-editedImagining Jerusalem in the Medieval West (Oxford University Press, 2012) andVisual Constructs of Jerusalem (Brepols, 2014).
