Circe Maia is a Uruguayan poet, essayist, translator, and teacher of philosophy. She is the author of eleven poetry collections, includingSuperficies, Breve Sol, Dualidades and La Pesadora de perlas,and the novel A Trip to Salto (Un Viaje a Salto). She has received the Medalla Delmira Agustini, 2013; an Homenaje de la Academia Nacional de Letras, 2009; the Premio Bartolome Hidalgo, 2010 and the Premio Nacional de Poesia de Uruguay, 2007.
Jesse Lee Kercheval is a poet, novelist, memoirist, and translator. She is the author of thirteen books in Spanish and English including the poetry collectionsExtranjera; Cinema Muto, and Dog Angel, and the novel My Life as a Silent Movie.Kercheval is the editor of the forthcoming America invertida: An Anthology of Younger Uruguayan Poets. She is the Zona Gale Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
